Homechoice: Troubleshooting

What's a generic way to get most apps working with HC?

Use SocksCap from NEC. It's available at

http://www.socks.nec.com/reference/sockscap.html

Configure it to do "DNS remotely" and put in the SOCKS server name of "gw1.homechoice.co.uk" port 1080. Drag a couple of apps from your Start menu into SocksCap and run them from there. Then configure your applications as if they were on a completely clean Internet connection.

(If you run an app under SocksCap which is configured to use any proxies, then the proxy will try to connect to a proxy and you are likely to have problems.)
